Axxcelera Broadband Wireless Selects Sequans' Technology for Key WiMAX Products

Sequans Speeds Axxcelera to WiMAX Forum Certification™

PARIS -- (MARKET WIRE) -- May 2, 2006 -- SEQUANS Communications, a fabless semiconductor company and leading supplier of WiMAX silicon and software, today announced that it has signed an agreement with Axxcelera Broadband Wireless for the supply of its WiMAX silicon. Axxcelera has developed Base Stations and CPE, operating in different frequency bands, using Sequans System on Chip (SoC). The Sequans' reference designs that were certified by the WiMAX Forum have accelerated Axxcelera's product development by providing immediate access to Sequans' already proven technology.

Axxcelera Broadband Wireless is a data networking solutions company that is developing leading-edge technology for the deployment of broadband wireless communications. Axxcelera's products operate in the 3.3-3.8 GHz and 5 GHz bands and support full and half duplex FDD and TDD operation. They are now being shipped to customers and channel partners. Axxcelera has received WiMAX certification for the ExcelMax Base Station and CPE.

"Time to market is absolutely critical to being competitive in the global WiMAX market and Sequans is the only provider to offer Base Station and Subscriber Station feature-rich WiMAX silicon," said Jamal Hamdani, CEO and President of Axxcelera Broadband Wireless. "Sequans dramatically reduced our development cycle for key WiMAX products and offered the flexibility required to support our broad portfolio of WiMAX products covering large Carriers as well as ISP applications."

Sequans' products consist of a Subscriber SoC, a Base Station SoC, and a comprehensive software package (S-Cube). These SoCs make it possible for equipment manufacturers to build different kind of products, from high-end base stations to pico-base stations, and from outdoor to feature-rich self-install terminals and home gateways. Equipment manufacturers benefit from Sequans' unique implementation of mandatory and optional WiMAX features that together drastically improve cell coverage, throughput and enable low-latency support for real-time voice, video and data applications. Sequans is currently shipping its first generation SOC for fixed WIMAX and is completing the development of its second generation SOC targeting IEEE 802.16e, Mobile WiMAX applications.

"We are thrilled to have Axxcelera as a customer and to be working with such a high caliber team," said Bernard Aboussouan, VP Marketing and Business Development of SEQUANS Communications. "Axxcelera has a long history in this industry, a strong reputation, one of the broadest product portfolio and a wide geographic coverage."
