Aylus Networks Takes Aim at Explosion in Demand for Mobile Bandwidth, Showcases Media Switching & RCS Family of Products at Mobile World Congress

BARCELONA, SPAIN--(Marketwire - February 16, 2010) -  Aylus Networks™, the mobile industry's leading provider of solutions for mobile broadband, announced today that they will unveil the latest version of their media switching & RCS family of products at the Mobile World Congress 2010 in Barcelona, February 15 - 18, 2010. Aylus will demo these products along with their solutions for managing the mobile network bandwidth explosion at suite # 4.6HS07, located in Building 4 on level 6. Their CEO, Shamim Naqvi, will be on hand to demo his company's latest offerings and to discuss the best ways to solve the most pressing bandwidth and services issues in today's mobile network.

"There has been an unprecedented explosion in bandwidth demand for the mobile operators largely brought on by the popularity of the iPhone and video services," said Dr. Shamim Naqvi, CEO, Aylus Networks."

"As a vertically integrated solutions provider, Aylus provides a full suite of traffic management solutions and real-time media sharing and video sharing applications. Aylus transforms the mobile operators' business models by offering them the ability to better manage the current avalanche of data and media traffic. Aylus at the same time provides carriers with service enabling capabilities allowing them to monetize that traffic as well, via the wholesaling of services to other applications ecosystems or by giving the operators the tools they need to create their own applications. Aylus provides an exciting opportunity for operators to get more control over the insatiable demand for network bandwidth while at the same time providing the application tools necessary to increase ARPU, reduce churn, encourage upsell to Smartphone devices and extended data plans, and to build subscriber loyalty through enhanced services."

Examples of applications to be demoed at the show include:

  • VideoShare:  Video is streamed live from one mobile handset to the other. Either party may terminate the live stream. Multiple live streams may be initiated and terminated within the same voice call.
  • MediaCast: Mobile users can stream live video and audio from their phone to a portal which can be viewed from a web browser on a PC or mobile phone. The viewer can also provide feedback and directions to the sender via the chatback capability.
  • ScreenShare: Mobile users may share a phone screen between them with the push of a single button. Permits users to share multimedia elements such as video and audio in a DRM-friendly manner.
  • ImageShare:  Enables mobile users to share a high resolution image between them. The image is sent from one party to another and is rendered on the receiver's mobile handset. Images can be retrieved from a handset, network server, or handset camera during the call.
  • ClipShare: Mobile users may share a video clip while continuing a voice conversation. The clip can be recorded on the handset or downloaded from the internet and shared with the called party. The video clip is streamed in real time, and both parties can view the clip on their respective handsets.
