Azimuth Systems Adds New Features to ACE™ MX MIMO Channel Emulator

New Software Release Increases Flexibility and Ease-of-Use of Industry-Leading MIMO Test Platform

ACTON, MA--(Marketwire - June 23, 2009) - Azimuth Systems, Inc., a leading provider of wireless broadband test equipment and channel emulators, today announced several new features to enhance the company's ACE™ MX Universal MIMO channel emulator, including an industry-unique configuration that enables users to add a non-fading, reverse path internal to the ACE MX. This "Uni+" configuration enables ACE MX users to avoid the cost, inconvenience and error-potential of external circulators, attenuators, isolators and cables when establishing the commonly required return path from a device-under-test to the signal source.

A purpose-built, enhanced testing solution, the ACE MX channel emulator is architected to meet the demanding needs of Multiple-Input, Multiple-Output (MIMO) and orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM)-based systems. The ACE MX provides the advanced channel emulation features required for testing LTE and other advanced wireless infrastructure equipment and devices, and includes all of the backwards-compatible channel emulation features to test 2G/3G cellular products. Featuring rich channel modeling and emulation capabilities, the ACE MX enables equipment manufacturers and service providers to reliably and accurately characterize the operation and performance of MIMO- and OFDM-based systems under a multitude of "real-world" RF conditions.

In addition to incorporating the Uni+ configuration, the new software release includes a frequency option for the selection of the 450 MHz to 2.7 GHz frequencies only offering customers a lower product cost, and a sliding delay propagation feature allowing users the ability to vary propagation delay over time, as needed, for testing in different environments. Additional enhancements to the industry-leading ACE MX include a model browser plug-in feature that enables rapid introduction of new models, and several new model pack Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs) that eliminate manual model loading and enable easy point and click selection of the latest versions of the industry-approved 3GPP versions of LTE and 2G/3G models/propagation conditions.
