Backbase Positioned in the Niche Quadrant of the Magic Quadrant for Horizontal Portals

Evaluation Based on Completeness of Vision and Ability to Execute

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - September 9, 2010) -  Backbase, a developer of next generation portal solutions, today announced it has been positioned by Gartner, Inc. in the Niche quadrant of the Magic Quadrant for Horizontal Portals.[1]

Gartner positions vendors in the "Niche" quadrant based on completeness of vision and their ability to execute on that vision.

"We believe our placement in the Quadrant is a key milestone that shows the value of our groundbreaking portal-less approach to enterprise portals," said Gerbert Kaandorp, CTO of Backbase. "By using widgets and modern Web-oriented architecture (WOA) principles, Backbase provides a lightweight framework for rapidly creating and deploying enterprise portals."

According to Gartner's strategic planning assumptions in this report, "By 2015, widgets will surpass portlets as the most prevalent portal component model."

"Backbase will continue to focus on the key challenge of any e-business executive: improving the online customer experience," said Jouk Pleiter, CEO of Backbase. "We create portal solutions that fuel revenues, foster customer communities, drive self-service and increase brand loyalty. We help our customers to transform their traditional portals into modern customer engagement platforms."
