Badgeville Wins Audience Choice Award at the Recent TechCrunch Disrupt Event

PALO ALTO, CA--(Marketwire - October 5, 2010) - Badgeville, a company that makes it easy for web publishers to increase loyalty and engagement, won the Microsoft BizSpark Audience Choice award at TechCrunch Disrupt. Badgeville CEO and Founder Kris Duggan accepted the award on-stage during the last night of the event.

Badgeville was chosen as one of 24 companies to launch at TechCrunch Disrupt from over 900 applicants. Badgeville was one of seven companies that comprised the Battlefield's finalists and took home the Audience Choice Award.

"It is an honor to be included in the top competition for disruptive and highly-innovative startups," said Kris Duggan, CEO of Badgeville. "Winning the TechCrunch Disrupt Audience Choice Award offers further validation that the market is ripe for bringing a powerful social rewards and loyalty platform to the web. We want to thank everyone who voted for us; the crowd and fellow entrepreneurs at the event were really supportive."

As one of the seven finalists, Badgeville presented to successful venture capitalists and entrepreneurs such as Marissa Mayer of Google, Digg Founder Kevin Rose and legendary VC Ron Conway. A video of their reaction can be viewed on TechCrunch TV, here. Some of the judge's comments throughout the week included:

  • "The market opportunity is real and Badgeville is off to a great start," said Roelof Botha of Sequoia Capital.
  • "I love the product! It's Foursquare for the web," echoed Digg CEO Kevin Rose.
  • "It's pretty impressive when your revenues are double your start-up capital," said angel investor Ron Conway.
  • "The social gaming aspect is great, the analytics piece is really thoughtful," said Marissa Mayer, VP of Search, Product and User Experience at Google. "We're far beyond page views and we have to look at far more detailed metrics to really understand what is going on on sites."
  • "I love it, it's got all the buzz words, it's social, check-in, badging, game mechanics," said Don Dodge, Developer Advocate at Google. "It's phenomenal that you have customers paying you this early, that speaks to how hot this area is."
