Bahamas Even Easier to Get to With Expanded Delta Flights

Airline Adds New Non-Stop Flights From Atlanta Hub

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - July 10, 2015) - The Islands of The Bahamas are now even easier to get to, for visitors in the US. Delta Air Lines recently announced an increase in their offerings of non-stop flights from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Airport to The Bahamas, with direct flights to Eleuthera and Marsh Harbour, Abaco, and daily flights to Georgetown, Exuma starting in December.

Delta, a member of the SkyTeam Alliance, is the world's second largest airline carrying over 120.6 million passengers each year. Atlanta is the airline's largest hub, and the world's busiest airport by passenger traffic -- a natural feeder airport for much of Delta's network that includes 333 destinations in 64 countries on 6 continents. This means that the new flights will bring The Bahamas much closer for even those passengers originating beyond the greater Atlanta area.

The flights to Eleuthera and Abaco will be operated on 65-seat EV-CJ7 aircraft, offering both Economy and Business Class service.

"The Bahamas is one of the world's most popular destinations, and Delta is one of the world's most popular airlines, so we are very happy that they will be expanding their service to The Bahamas. While Nassau is our capital, Exuma… known for its unique swimming pigs, Eleuthera… known for its famous Glass Window Bridge, and Abaco… a boaters' paradise… are very popular destinations within the Islands. Of course, we are also very excited that the service to Exuma will now be operated daily, at more than double the current capacity. In a time when the airline industry is generally cutting back on frequencies and capacity, Delta's latest announcement is proof positive that The Bahamas is and will continue to be a top destination worldwide for visitors. As we like to say, 'It's Better in the Bahamas!'" said Joy Jibrilu, Director General, Bahamas Ministry of Tourism.
