BakBone Software Announces New Head for Europe, Middle East and Africa Team

SAN DIEGO--(CCNMatthews - Jul 18, 2005) -

BakBone Software™ (TSX:BKB) (Pink Sheets:BKBO), a global provider of data protection software, today named its new head of sales and operations for BakBone's Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region. Effective immediately, Chris Ross joins the Company as vice president of EMEA, responsible for expanding BakBone's EMEA operations and increasing revenues. Ross replaces Patrick Clarke, former vice president of EMEA, who recently left the Company to pursue other interests.

"We have seen tremendous momentum in the region, especially since BakBone was first formed in 2000 and we offered NetVault data protection software to customers in EMEA," said Jim Johnson, president and CEO of BakBone Software. "In the last year and a half, Pat has played a key role in building a solid sales, marketing and technical infrastructure and expanding our distribution network with the addition of leading storage distributors including CMS Peripherals, TIM AG and most recently, Four Leaf. We wish Pat well in his new venture and thank him for his contributions to the Company."

Commenting on the addition of Ross to BakBone's management team, Johnson added, "We're excited to build on this solid foundation and the traction we're seeing in the region. Chris brings extensive experience in software business development, a very strong track record in growing sales, and success in establishing market leadership throughout EMEA."

With over 13 years of experience in the software industry, Ross most recently served as the vice president of EMEA for Symantec's Enterprise Administration business. During his time at Symantec, Ross successfully implemented a specialist sales organization across EMEA responsible for Symantec's Systems and Storage Management product portfolio through both direct and indirect channels. Prior to the acquisition of PowerQuest Corporation by Symantec in December 2003, Ross was vice president and general manager for EMEA where he led EMEA operations at PowerQuest. During this time, he significantly grew enterprise sales revenue in the region, implemented a highly effective Value-Added Partner Channel Partner Program, and established a new subsidiary in France. Additionally, Ross has held sales and sales management positions with a number of enterprise software and storage companies including L&H, a voice recognition software company, and Quarterdeck Corporation. Ross holds a BA (Hons.) degree in Modern Languages and Information Systems from the University of West of England.
