Online Food Social Network Recognized by Webby Awards for Fifth Consecutive Year

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - Apr 14, 2011) - -- the Web's first (and tastiest) food social network and recipe swap -- has been honored by the 2011 Webby Awards in three of the most hotly contested categories: "Community," "Lifestyle" and "Social Media."

Named alongside sites such as Flickr, Mashable and, BakeSpace was recognized by the Webby Awards for the fifth consecutive year. The site earned back-to-back nominations for "Best Social Network" in 2009 and 2010, getting edged out by and Twitter, respectively. Prior to that, the site was an "Official Honoree" in 2007 and 2008. This year marks first time that BakeSpace has been honored in multiple Webby Award categories.

"This year's Webby Awards are three times as sweet," said Founder Babette Pepaj. "Our members have built a truly grassroots community, and they can take a lot of pride in the fact we've been honored in three of the most competitive categories."

Hailed as the "Internet's highest honor" by The New York Times, the Webby is the leading international award for excellence in websites, interactive advertising, online film/video and mobile content. The Awards are presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences for what the Academy deems as "outstanding work that is setting the standards for the Internet." More than 8,000 Webby Award entries were received this year.
