BalaBit Announces the Availability of BalaBit's Shell Control Box 4 LTS

New, Broad Citrix Support and Web-Based Search Interface With Multiple Enhancements

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Sep 19, 2014) -  BalaBit (www.balabit.com), an IT security innovator in log management and advanced monitoring technologies, announced the availability of BalaBit's Shell Control Box (SCB) 4 LTS. SCB is an enterprise-level activity monitoring appliance that controls privileged access to remote IT systems, records activities in searchable, movie-like audit trails, and prevents malicious actions.

New enhancements to the SCB 4 LTS appliance provide a broader range of deployment options, including improved support for Citrix and virtual environments, with increased usability and reporting. SCB can be seamlessly integrated into companies' existing network environment because it is completely independent from clients and servers. The appliance provides the widest range of protocol coverage on the market.

"SCB acts as a centralized authentication and access-control point within an IT environment. The simplicity of the solution and the flexible settings allow organizations to control who can access what and when on the servers," said Zoltán Györkő, CEO of BalaBit. "SBC 4 LTS introduces several new benefits that not only ensure increased security and ease of use, but also provide greater cost savings and return on investment for our customers."

New features of BalaBit's Shell Box Control 4 LTS include:

Improved support of Citrix environments - SCB 4 LTS adds support for the latest Citrix ICA protocol versions to control and audit more remote access types. SCB now controls access to Windows applications from tablets and smartphones and can transparently control and audit user sessions in XenDesktop 7 and XenApp 6.5 deployments.

Extended real-time alerting features - SCB's real-time alerting feature has been improved by monitoring user activity in Citrix ICA sessions, detecting application start-ups or any window appearing on the screen. SCB can immediately terminate connections that violate the preconfigured rules, and can also send alerts in such cases.

New web-based search interface - The improved search provides easier post-mortem incident analysis, as auditors can access detailed search results, such as hits with precise timestamps or screenshots that contain a searched expression. The new full-text searching capabilities provide search results ranked by relevance, many powerful query types, and support for non-Latin characters.

Brand-new audit trail pop-up window is provided - It displays relevant information about the audit trail, for example, the username or the IP address of the destination server, the list of alerts triggered by the session, as well as the extracted window titles and the commands.

Integration with third-party workflow and ticketing systems - SCB 4 LTS provides a plugin framework to integrate with external helpdesk ticketing (or issue tracking) systems, allowing requests for a ticket ID from the user to be made before authenticating on the target server. SCB can verify that the user has a valid reason to access the server and optionally terminate the connection if the user doesn't.

Virtual appliance support on MS Hyper-V - The SCB Virtual Appliance is now officially supported on Microsoft Hyper-V, which makes it possible to deploy SCB in Microsoft's server virtualization environment.
