Baltimore Downtown Hotel's Watertable Lounge to Host Art Exhibit and Sale

Renaissance Baltimore Harborplace Hotel Partners With AVAM for Unique Display

BALTIMORE, MD--(Marketwired - Aug 28, 2014) - Art lovers from near and far will appreciate an upcoming four-day art event set to take place inside a popular waterfront venue in Baltimore, Md.

Staging the work of noted artists inside its Watertable Lounge, the Renaissance Baltimore Harborplace Hotel, working in unison with the American Visionary Art Museum (AVAM), will host the event Sept. 10-13. Featuring the visionary works of Brian Dowdall and contemporary pieces from Alison Spiesman, the engaging exhibition is aptly titled Spirited Voyage and will be displayed alongside the Baltimore Inner Harbor luxury hotel's breathtaking waterfront views.

The depiction of animal spirits and goddesses are included in the newly found imagery created by Dowdall as both a visionary and Baltimorean while Spiesman lauds the clipper motif as a symbol for the duo's Spirited Voyage display. Their first exhibition together, this showcase of their work is part of the Baltimore Inner Harbor luxury hotel's festive Star Spangled Spectacular which honors the new signature Visionary Baltimore diptych recently installed in the hotel lobby by AVAM.

Both artists will be on hand from 6 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13 at the Watertable for the concluding artists' reception and sale of the original paintings.

As an added feature, one individual attending the event will be selected for a complimentary private tour of the nearby AVAM on Sunday, Sept. 14. The winner will be announced at the conclusion of the event on Saturday, Sept. 13. Mission of the AVAM is to promote "art produced by self-taught individuals, usually without formal training, whose works arise from an innate personal vision that revels foremost in the creative act itself". Featured exhibits at the AVAM during September include Donald Pass: The Hope We Seek and a free, outdoor art display entitled A Very Visionary Star-Spangled Sidewalk, part of Maryland's "Star Spangled 200" National Bicentennial. Permanent collection galleries featuring rotating selections from the Museum's permanent collection of 4,000 visionary works from around the world are located on the first and second floors of the main building.
