Bankim Gopani Transitions to Chief Corporate Development Officer; Hamsa Shadaksharappa Joins NSU as New Chief Financial Officer

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ--(Marketwired - July 23, 2015) - Natural Systems Utilities, LLC (NSU), has announced that Bankim Gopani will transition from Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to Chief Corporate Development Officer (CCDO), effective immediately, and that Hamsa Shadaksharappa has joined NSU as the new CFO.

Mr. Gopani brings to NSU 23 years of experience in Corporate Finance, Mergers & Acquisitions, and Private Equity, beginning his career at Baring Brothers, as an M&A Analyst, and then Goldman Sachs. Mr. Gopani subsequently earned an MBA from The Wharton School as a Palmer Scholar and then began his successful private equity career at GE Equity. His leadership in 12 transactions earned him the Winner's Circle Award for being a top global deal professional. He was then hand-picked by two Fortune 100 CEOs to lead investments for Arlington Capital Partners where he originated and championed transactions. Mr. Gopani later restructured a portfolio of investments for an incubator and founded Best Search Inc., where he attracted industry leading clients and generated a successful exit.

Mr. Gopani joined NSU in May 2012 as an Advisor to NSU's Board where he developed and led NSU's Strategic Planning Process. In January 2013, he transitioned to CFO. "Bankim has done an outstanding job as CFO and now we are set to take advantage of his exceptional M&A background in his new assignment," said CEO, Bob Dixon.

In Mr. Gopani's new position as Chief Corporate Development Officer he will have the ability to generate new opportunities via Mergers & Acquisitions in new geographies and/or adjacent markets for sustained growth of NSU. "An increasingly important aspect of NSU's strategy is to complement organic growth with synergistic mergers and acquisitions, as well as strategic partnerships. I am honored to lead this effort inside NSU, and am looking forward to working closely with colleagues across all divisions for Corporate Development initiatives," said Mr. Gopani. He will continue to be a member of the Leadership Team and will report to CEO, Bob Dixon. Mr. Gopani will transition his CFO responsibilities to Hamsa Shadaksharappa.

Mr. Shadaksharappa, also reporting to CEO, Bob Dixon, will manage Finance & Accounting, Investment Management and IT.

Mr. Shadaksharappa brings to NSU over twenty years of experience in the energy and infrastructure sectors focusing on project development, mergers and acquisitions and financial management. He served as the Chief Financial Officer of Sithe Global, a Blackstone portfolio company, from 2006-2013. At Sithe Global, he was part of the management team that developed, financed and built multiple international Greenfield power projects at an aggregate capital investment of over $3 billion. Prior to joining Sithe Global, he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Texas Genco, a major wholesale power generator that was acquired by a consortium of four private equity firms. During his tenure, Texas Genco was sold to NRG Energy in 2006 in a transaction valued at $8.3 billion.

From 2001 to 2005, he served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of The AES Corporation's largest subsidiary, Indianapolis Power & Light, a 3000 MW integrated utility serving 450,000 electric customers. From 1994 through 2001, Mr. Shadaksharappa served in various international project development positions for The AES Corporation in India, Singapore, Australia, and the United States. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University and a Master in Business Administration degree from Harvard Business School. "I am pleased to join an organization with such experience and innovation in sustainable infrastructure. NSU is an exciting platform in an industry that has considerable potential and I look forward to building on NSU's excellent track record," said Mr. Shadaksharappa.

"Hamsa brings an outstanding set of qualities to NSU. He has both a successful track record as CFO of several infrastructure based entities, both large and small, as well an extensive background in business development. I am thrilled that he has joined the NSU team," said CEO, Bob Dixon.

We congratulate Mr. Gopani on his new role and welcome Mr. Shadaksharappa to NSU.
