Barbara J. Friedman Joins Sterling International

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - July 10, 2008) - Barbara J. Friedman has joined the ranks of executive search as Partner with Sterling International in the firm's New York office. A business professional with over 30 years of experience in the strategic development and marketing of fashion and lifestyle consumer goods, the scope of her expertise extends to licensing, marketing, brand management, merchandising, and product development for American and French brands, ranging from mass to luxury channels of distribution. Most recently she acted as the President of Corporate Licensing for Liz Claiborne Inc., and held responsibility for the strategic development and management of the licensed businesses for the corporation's portfolio of 40 brands over 38 product categories (Liz Claiborne, Ellen Tracy, Juicy Couture, Kate Spade, Lucky Brand jeans, among others, represent $1.5 billion in annual retail sales). Prior to this position she was President of Licensing for Anne Klein, a division of Takhiyo. Friedman has held other key executive positions at Christian Dior, Chloé, J.C. Penney, Bonwit Teller and Bloomingdale's. She serves on the Board of Advisors for the Laboratory Institute of Merchandising College, as well as on several boards owned by women entrepreneurs. Her professional and civic associations include The Fashion Group International, International Women's Forum, and honors such as the induction in the YMCA Academy of Outstanding Women Achievers.
