Barnabas Health, Boston Medical Center, Daiichi Sankyo and UNOS to Speak on Encryption Rollouts in the Enterprise at RSA

LEE, MA--(Marketwire - Feb 14, 2012) - Wave Systems Corp. (NASDAQ: WAVX) ( announced today that a panel of customers will appear at RSA Conference 2012 to discuss their deployments of Wave-managed self-encrypting drives (SEDs). On Monday, February 27th during the Trusted Computing Group's pre-conference workshop, the session will showcase how Opal-standard SEDs addressed the unique data protection needs of each enterprise.

"I think there's a lot of curiosity about hardware-based encryption," said Rob MacBride, of United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS). "What was our research and selection process? How has hardware-based encryption stacked up against software-based? We were among the early adopters of SED technology, and it's natural that others want to hear what our experience has been."

The Trusted Computing Group developed the open-industry Opal specification to ensure SEDs provided vendor-neutral, best-in-class encryption technology by automatically encrypting all data written to the drive. Now offered by all major drive manufacturers, SEDs are slowly gaining recognition as reports of their effectiveness, strong ROI, superior performance, and seamless end-user experience spread.

"We saw considerable improvement in boot-time and machine performance," said Hussein Syed, IT Director at Barnabas Health, who headed selection and deployment of SEDs for New Jersey's largest healthcare provider, "which of course translates to more time spent on core business efforts. Deploying SEDs helped us achieve a secure, easily managed encryption solution and I look forward to discussing the specifics with others interested in the technology."

WHAT: "Self-Encrypting Drive Enterprise Deployments: End-Users Discuss SEDs in Action" panel
WHEN: Monday, February 27th from 10:20 to 11:00 a.m. PST
WHERE: Esplanade Room 301-303, Moscone Center, San Francisco

Dr. Thibadeau Joins American Bar Association Experts to Explain Data Breach Regulations

Wave's Chief Scientist Dr. Robert Thibadeau will also be speaking at RSA Conference. The session will explore the legal and technical complexities inherent in the current system of individual (and often conflicting) state data breach notification laws. Dr. Thibadeau is joined on this panel, "Data Breach Laws: Will They Save or Sink You in a Massive Attack?" by colleagues from the American Bar Association and co-authors of the Data Breach and Encryption Handbook (2011). The panel will take place on Wednesday, February 29th, at 10:40 a.m. PST in Room 131.
