BarnesMcInerney Acquires Toronto's Top IR Boutique, and Solidifies Presence in Western Canada

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Dec. 4, 2006) - BarnesMcInerney Inc., Canada's leading capital markets communications consultancy, has strengthened its market position and client service capabilities with two strategic initiatives -- the acquisition of one of Bay Street's most prominent investor relations boutiques, Fundamental Communications Inc., and the opening of an office in Calgary.

In announcing the acquisition, Kenneth Barnes, Managing Partner of BarnesMcInerney said: "We are seeing continued strong growth in the need for strategic and professional IR services. These two developments better equip BarnesMcInerney to serve a growing national client base."

Fundamental, one of Canada's top investor relations boutiques, was founded 11 years ago and has developed a thriving practice serving the needs of some of Canada's leading public companies, investment managers and pension funds. Fundamental's addition instantly strengthens BarnesMcInerney's client service capabilities in both investor relations and roadshows and adds senior capacity to drive future growth, business and employee development.

Said Ernie Stapleton, President of Fundamental, "We look forward to delivering the benefits of greater knowledge, depth and responsiveness to our clients as part of Canada's most experienced capital markets communications firm."

The two initiatives bring experienced investor relations professionals to BarnesMcInerney, including Fundamental's two founding partners, Stapleton and John Simpson, who will join BarnesMcInerney as executive team members and owners. Scott Berry, who will lead the Calgary office, has extensive buy and sell side contacts developed over the past 15 years. He has provided roadshow services across Canada, the U.S. and Europe and earlier in his career, founded Infovest, which became the premier IR roadshow firm for the technology sector.

BarnesMcInerney's clients include some of Alberta's best known oil and gas companies. With Mr. Berry's formal training in the energy sector and investor relations experience with over 300 oil and gas companies, BarnesMcInerney will offer outstanding knowledge and service to its current client roster as well as to other companies in this large and growing market segment. "This is a very positive development for my existing clients," said Mr. Berry. "Barnes McInerney offers the broadest suite of IR communications products and services in the industry."

These are just the latest advancements for BarnesMcInerney. In January, the firm announced a strategic alliance with MaisonBrison, a leading and fully bilingual Montreal IR consulting company founded by well-known journalist, writer and financial communications consultant Rick Leckner.
