Barrett to Host Journalists as Part of the Greatly Anticipated SolidWorks 2011 Roll-Out

CAMBRIDGE, MA--(Marketwire - September 1, 2010) -  There is a buzz in the mechanical-design community as Dassault Systèmes SolidWorks Corp (DS SolidWorks) rolls out its 2011 product line today. No team can be as enthusiastic as Barrett's designers because Barrett was the very first customer of the SolidWorks CAD product, which has now sold over 1,000,000 seats. Barrett will demonstrate the value of 2011 in the real-world scenario of designing world-class robotic arms and hands during the SolidWorks 2011 media launch event. According to DS SolidWorks founder Jon Hirschtick, "Barrett has been one of DS SolidWorks' most important customers. They helped pioneer best practices for using SolidWorks and contributed valuable product feedback in the early years that live on in today's SolidWorks." Barrett CEO Bill Townsend adds, "We are pioneers in robotics, and not afraid to take risks when there are overwhelming rewards as there were in adopting SolidWorks ahead of the curve. Barrett has been on a strong growth curve right through the recession. We owe a good portion of this success to the almost unfair advantage that SolidWorks gives us over companies who continue to use other solutions."
