Barrett-Jackson Road Rally to Kick-Off 2nd Annual Las Vegas Classic Car Auction

LAS VEGAS, NV--(Marketwire - September 21, 2009) - The Barrett-Jackson Auction Company, creator of "The World's Greatest Collector Car Auctions™," will be taking over a stretch of the Las Vegas Strip for their spectacular Barrett-Jackson Road Rally on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009, starting at 1:30 p.m. Approximately 100 classic and collector vehicles will participate in a 3.3 mile drive down Las Vegas Blvd., lead by two drifting cars presented by Ford Motor Company. The Rally will also include many consigned vehicles that will cross the block at the company's 2nd Annual Las Vegas Collector Car Auction, taking place October 8 - 10, 2009, at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.

The Rally starts at the LVCVA Gold Lot north of Convention Center Dr. before traveling west to Las Vegas Blvd., then heads south down The Strip to Russell Rd., ending at the southeast parking lot at Mandalay Bay. Immediately following the Rally will be a car show with entertainment, including a Ride 'n Drive and live radio remotes.

"The Barrett-Jackson Road Rally is the perfect way to kick-off the excitement of our 2nd annual auction in Las Vegas," said Craig Jackson, Chairman/CEO, Barrett-Jackson. "Like the vehicles in the Rally, Las Vegas is a unique city, so it's the perfect backdrop to showcase some of the rarest, most glamorous collector automobiles in the world. We've had a lot of success in Las Vegas, and look forward to an amazing auction in October."

The 2008 inaugural Las Vegas auction hosted more than 50,000 guests and sold over 500 cars for a total of $29 million. The event experienced an influx of qualified new bidders -- all 50 states as well as Mexico and Canada were represented -- with more than 650 of the over 1,200 bidders being first-time participants. The top selling car was a 1949 MG TC race car that went for $313,500, with the additional top seven cars selling for over $200,000 each.

"We can't wait to provide the most action-packed Las Vegas auction yet," said Steve Davis, President, Barrett-Jackson. "The Rally is another great layer of the entertainment value we've been building for the Las Vegas event. In addition, we've amped up the lifestyle offerings with vendors, parties, and local charity support, so we've truly got something for everyone."
