Barrett Xplore Inc. Selects Zuora for Communications and Salesforce to Move to the Cloud

The Combination of Zuora and Force.com Provide an Enterprise Cloud Platform for Billing and Customer Care Excellence

REDWOOD CITY, CA--(Marketwire - April 6, 2011) - Zuora, the subscription billing and commerce leader, announced today Barrett Xplore Inc. (BXI), which is deploying Canada's first national 4G broadband network, selected the combination of Zuora and Salesforce for its next-generation, enterprise cloud platform to provide billing, payment and customer management for its broadband services.

The telecommunications industry is undergoing rapid growth and change today. As a result, service providers are deploying and launching new services to meet the demands for 4G, wireless and broadband services from consumers and businesses. To get to market quickly, service providers are embracing cloud computing for the flexibility and agility required to launch their new offerings and better service customers online.

To address this shift to the cloud, Barrett selected the combination of two leading cloud solutions to power its entire customer acquisition, billing and payments, and customer service processes. These previously involved time-consuming manual settlements across more than 130,000 customers and 700 dealers. After a thorough evaluation of available billing solutions in the market, Barrett selected Zuora's enterprise cloud billing solution, Zuora for Communications, which combines Salesforce Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Customer Portal and Partner Portal solution. Zuora formally announced Zuora for Communications today.

Designed for communication service providers like Barrett, Zuora for Communications enables billing capabilities like pricing, quoting, orders, billing, and payments, and customer care capabilities like change orders, customer cases and renewals inside of Salesforce. The Zuora for Communications solution will help Barrett's customers and dealers to:

  • easily sign up for Xplornet's expanded range of service offerings,
  • track and manage customers and their subscriptions,
  • have a clear consolidated billing and payment process, and
  • have self-service capabilities to manage account updates, add-on orders, upgrades, and renewals.

Zuora's cloud platform with Salesforce allows service providers to launch new services rapidly, have the flexibility to change pricing in real-time, and provides customers a rich online experience, therefore, equipping themselves to operate their business in the cloud -- proof of the growing adoption of cloud technologies for the industry.

"As we deploy Canada's first national 4G network, we needed an enterprise cloud solution to deliver subscription management and ensure the best customer service experience in the industry," said Cathy MacDonald, CIO at Barrett Xplore Inc. "The combination of Zuora and Salesforce will provide speed of deployment and ease of change management allowing us to keep pace with the rapid market growth and evolution in our industry today."

"As the telecom industry is reshaped by new technologies, services, and customer demands, service providers face a clear choice: to continue to rely on outdated infrastructure with years-long timelines for implementation and service rollout -- or embrace cloud services and fast, agile, and efficient business models they make possible," said Shawn Price, President of Zuora. "By leveraging leading cloud solutions like Zuora for Communications and Salesforce, Barrett will be able to address the 4G market opportunity with its new subscription-based broadband services."
