Barrick GM Leaves for Starcore

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Feb. 26, 2007) - Starcore International Ventures Ltd. (the "Company") (TSX VENTURE:SAM) is pleased to announce that Hugh (Bert) McPherson has joined the Company as a Director and Chief Operating Officer in charge of the San Martin Mine in Queretaro, Mexico, recently purchased by Starcore from Luismin, S.A. de C.V., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Goldcorp Inc. Along with the responsibility of managing the operations, exploration and expansion of San Martin, Mr. McPherson will be involved in the evaluation and acquisition of future projects.

Bert McPherson was most recently General Manager of Barrick Gold Corporation's Pierina Mine, a valley heap leach operation in Huaraz, Peru. Prior to Pierina, Mr. McPherson was Mine Manager of Barrick Gold's Alto Chicama project, also in northern Peru. Before joining Barrick Gold, Mr. McPherson worked for XStrata Copper's Alumbrera Mine in northern Argentina and Morrison Knudson Venezuela at their Carbones de la Guajira coal mine in Venezuela.

His experience in South America, combined with earlier Canadian experience, has given him a broad range of expertise in mine management, production and resource optimization, mine expansion, safety, social and environmental management and mine engineering. He holds a B.Sc. Applied Science in Mine Engineering from Queen's University and is a Registered Professional Engineer in the province of British Columbia.
