Barry O'Neill and Maude Barlow host town hall on CETA

VICTORIA, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Oct. 7, 2011) - The Canadian Union of Public Employees and the Council of Canadians are holding a town hall meeting on Thursday, Oct. 13 in Victoria to raise awareness about a new trade deal that threatens vital public services like water, transit, energy and health care. CUPE BC Division President Barry O'Neill, Council of Canadians National Chairperson Maude Barlow and Marianne Alto, City of Victoria Councillor, will speak at the event.

Canada and the European Union are negotiating a new Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) which they hope to sign by the end of this year. CUPE and the Council of Canadians oppose the deal because of the impact it will have on public services and health care.
