Battelle Chosen to Help Leading Global Bank Fortify Its Cyber Security

Battelle's Team of World-Class Analysts and Linguists Deepens Bank's Capabilities in Global Geospatial and Threat Assessment

COLUMBUS, OH--(Marketwired - Dec 16, 2013) -  As part of its industry-leading commitment to keep customer data and assets secure, a leading international bank has awarded a 3-year global threat intelligence analysis contract to Battelle.

Building upon decades of research and development in cyber security and intelligence innovations, Battelle will work closely with the bank's security analysts to identify and assess online and location-based threats and risks. The organization will have access to Battelle's highly skilled and experienced intelligence analysts, including native-language linguists able to provide timely and accurate evaluation of threats around the world. The announcement comes after a 2-month pilot project with Battelle, the world's largest independent research and development organization.

With hundreds of locations across the globe, the global banking leader is committed to providing the highest levels of protection possible to its customers. Recognizing that geopolitical developments and cyber threats can develop and change rapidly, the partnership will allow the bank to better understand emerging threats and act quickly.

Battelle's threat assessment service is tailored to address the unique needs of the clients. Battelle will help develop a broader picture of threats, from physical and social climate risks to the impact on operations due to localized, power outages, to attempted infiltration of networks and facilities.

"As technology innovations continue at a rapid pace, consumer and business financial transactions are changing too. This creates new and sometimes unanticipated risks," said Ernest Hampson, Technical Director of Battelle's Cyber Intelligence|Counterintelligence Group. "Forward-thinking financial services organizations are taking the critical steps necessary to protect their customers' data and assets. We look forward to working closely with these organizations to deliver the intelligence they need to provide the most innovative and secure services possible for their customers."

Battelle's decades of experience in national security, technology and healthcare help the organization improve security for companies in the financial, government insurance, healthcare and critical infrastructure industries.
