Battelle Team Continues Worldwide Support of Detection Equipment With Recent Contract Win

Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Experts in 8th Year of Logistical Support

COLUMBUS, OH--(Marketwired - February 17, 2015) - The U.S. Army keeps chemical and biological detection equipment at sites throughout the United States and in at least 10 countries around the world. Battelle has a team of experts that ensures the equipment is readily available to those requiring it and ensures the equipment is in tip-top shape.

The six-month CBRN Contractor Logistics Support (CLS) contract, with a value of $13 million, began Jan. 1.

Battelle initially won a five-year, competitive award in 2008 for the contract. This new award constitutes the eighth consecutive year of CBRN CLS to be provided by Battelle, and will bring the cumulative value of this effort to over $470 million.

A team of Battelle employees and nine subcontractors have supported operations in ten countries including Korea, Germany, Italy, Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Iraq, Afghanistan and Jordan, and thirty states throughout the U.S., performing operations, maintenance, repair and supply support of Biological Detection and Identification equipment and Mounted and Dis-mounted Reconnaissance equipment for the Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical and Biological Defense.

"This has been a great program for Battelle and one that our client values as indicated by recent years' awards and their Contractor Performance Assessment Reports, which to date have continuously reflected exceptional client satisfaction with our highly responsive CLS support team," said Matt Shaw, Vice President and General Manager for Battelle's CBRNE Defense business.
