Bay Microsystems and IP Infusion Form Strategic Alliance

Bay Microsystems to Fully Integrate, Distribute and Support IP Infusion Software Stacks

SAN JOSE, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- July 20, 2005 -- Bay Microsystems, the leader in high performance packet processing and transport solutions delivering high quality voice, video and data services, and IP Infusion, a leading provider of intelligent network software for enhanced IP services platforms, today announced a strategic alliance that uniquely enables Bay Microsystems as a value-added reseller to fully integrate and support IP Infusion's ZebOS® software into hardware platforms based on its Internetworking Processor devices targeted at high-speed commercial and government network applications.

With this alliance, Bay's customers have access to a complete solution with one interface, which reduces development risks and accelerates time to market. ZebOS is a scalable, robust, and fully integrated Layer 2 and Layer 3 routing and switching software solution that allows OEMs to quickly add networking capabilities to their new lines of switching and routing products. A full range of applications are supported by Bay using ZebOS, including Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, IPv4, IPv6, MPLS, L2/L3 VPNs, VPLS, BGP, OSPF, RSVP, RIP and more.

"This strategic alliance allows us to be the single point of contact and to deliver a complete, robust, fully supported solution to our customers," said Chuck Gershman, president and CEO of Bay Microsystems. "By fully integrating ZebOS with our packet processing and transport hardware, our customers get the single support interface they have been asking for."

"Bay Microsystems is showcasing the power of hardware and software integration," said Perry Constantine, president and CEO of IP Infusion. "Tight integration will ensure that customers not only achieve their design goals but also vastly improve their time to market." Constantine also pointed out that Bay Microsystems will enable IP Infusion to reach new market sectors within key agencies of the U.S. Federal Government due to their strategic focus and successful market penetration.

Bay's packet processing and ADM-on-a-Chip™ products are the heart of solutions that can mediate, aggregate, switch and transport voice, video and data traffic across network domains including LAN, SAN and WAN. These solutions are achieved through the family's unique protocol agile processing capabilities. This processing empowers maximum line rate operation for interworking and mediation of Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, IPv4, IPv6, GFP, SONET, Fibre Channel, ATM, Frame Relay, and other protocols simultaneously. The family includes Montego®, the industry's only OC192c/10G processor capable of classification, policing, segmentation and reassembly, and traffic management at wire rate. Biscayne™ is a programmable classification processor that can parse, classify and police packets and cells at rates up to 16 Gbps, at minimum packet size regardless of traffic patterns. The 8010/8040/8160 products support a complete range of SONET/SDH silicon solutions for data rates from OC3 to OC768.
