BBI Biofuels Canada: Minister Lyle Stewart to Speak at the Canadian Renewable Energy Workshop

Saskatchewan leads the Canadian Biofuel Industry

REGINA, SASKATCHEWAN--(Marketwire - March 10, 2008) - The Honourable Lyle Stewart, Minister of Enterprise and Innovation, will speak at the Canadian Renewable Energy Workshop (CREW) being held March 16 to 18, 2008, at IPSCO Place, Regina, Saskatchewan.

The conference will focus on the sustainable development of commercial scale ethanol and biodiesel production facilities, and provide expertise that specifically targets Canadian challenges and opportunities for the biofuels industry.

"Saskatchewan is building a worldwide reputation for innovation, including our efforts to develop renewable energy in the province," Enterprise and Innovation Minister Lyle Stewart said. "We are committed to encouraging the development of biofuels, and this means working with leaders in this industry to address potential barriers to growth and to pursue new ideas, such as through the Saskatchewan Biofuels Investment Opportunity (SaskBIO) Program."

Program highlights include a trade show, ethanol and biodiesel technical breakouts, biofuel plant finances, new bioenergy technology, and several networking receptions. Participants will have the opportunity to explore the present and future biofuel potential in Saskatchewan and Canada.

Introduction to Ethanol and Introduction to Biodiesel courses begin Sunday March 16, 2008 at 12:00 pm. They cover topics of the process and overall steps, different feedstocks and what to consider, key economic drivers and site issues. Registration is $150.00.

The full conference begins Sunday March 16, 2008 at 6:00 pm with a reception and Grand Opening of the Trade Show sponsored by the Government of Saskatchewan, Ministry of Enterprise and Innovation. General Registration is $495.
