BC Health Coalition: Seniors Gather in Victoria to Grade Province on Care

Recent Cover-Up in Care Home Death Shows Need for More Government Responsibility

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Nov. 1, 2011) - A delegation of seniors is delivering a message about the state of seniors' care to the provincial government at the BC legislature today.

The seniors will present Health Minister Michael de Jong with a report card on the progress the province has made in implementing the BC Ombudsperson's recommendations to improve seniors' care.

Members of the delegation will be available to comment at a news conference on the steps of the legislature, including family members with a loved one in care, care aids who work in seniors' care, and representatives from organizations including the Vancouver Island Association of Family Councils, the Vancouver Cross Cultural Seniors Network, Canadian Doctors for Medicare, and the Jewish Seniors Alliance.
