BCAMA Evening Speakers Series: Content Marketing vs. Advertising

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - Dec. 2, 2013) - On Thursday, December 5, 2013 the BC Chapter of the American Marketing Association (BCAMA) will host a Directors' Forum round table discussion, an Evening Speakers Series Event, and the BCAMA Christmas party. Join us for an extended evening of deliberation, celebration and eggnog.

Beginning at 4:30 p.m., the Directors' Forum will host a small group of Directors and Senior Managers in a round table discussion.

Following the Forum, the Evening Speakers Series will feature four local experts in the field of Marketing Strategy who will debate their position on which is better: Content Marketing or Advertising Moderated by Peter Reek, Founder & Principal, Smart Savvy + Associates, the panel debate will close with a Q & A session.

Six of one? What is the difference between Content Marketing and Advertising? Both are marketing strategies with a goal to acquire customers, but each takes a different approach. Content marketing involves the creation and sharing of information through a variety of formats, including news, videos and infographs. Rather than focus on selling, content marketing aims to increase audience engagement to inspire business and loyalty from customers.

Advertising, on the other hand, is a form of marketing communication used to persuade an audience with a goal to increase sales of a product or service. Advertising uses branding to associate a name or image with certain qualities in the minds of consumers.
