BCLC: Richmond Co-Workers Share Million Dollar Jackpot

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - May 10, 2011) - The mood at Grimm's Fine Foods in Richmond is anything but grim, after a LOTTO MAX ticket purchased by a group of 41 employees earned them a $1 Million dollar MAXMILLION prize.

"There were plenty of high-fives and hugs at work the next day," says group trustee Frank Pongracz. "A few people had just come back to work after being laid off, so this money will help them to catch up on their bills and mortgage payments."

Pongracz says the win comes as a shock, particularly since they had only just begun playing as a group.

"We'd only been buying tickets together for six weeks, with maybe 38 or 39 people playing each week. For this particular ticket, we had all 41 people working the morning shift put in two dollars, and believe me they're glad they did."

LOTTO MAX:

  • Draws held each Friday night
  • Each $5 ticket features 3 chances to win (7 numbers each)
  • To win a jackpot players must match 7/7 numbers (from 1-49)
  • Odds of winning a jackpot are one in 28.6 million per play

MAXMILLIONS:

  • When a LOTTO MAX jackpot reaches $50 Million, ticket sales fund additional $1 Million prizes called MAXMILLIONS
  • Each MAXMILLION jackpot has its own separate draw following the main draw
  • Players must match 7/7 numbers to win a corresponding MAXMILLION prize

LOTTO MAX can be played at all BCLC retail locations and online at PlayNow.com, with tickets available for sale until 6:00 p.m. (PDT) on draw day (Friday). Winning numbers and group release forms can be found online at bclc.com.
