BC's Industry-led Electronics Recycling Program Appoints New Program Director

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA --(Marketwire - July 5, 2011) - The Board of Directors for the Electronic Stewardship Association of BC ("ESABC"), the province's leading stewardship program for managing end-of-life electronics, has appointed Craig Wisehart as the Program Director.

In this role Craig will oversee program operations and continue to drive the program towards enhanced performance and efficiencies, in cooperation with other industry-led stewardship programs across Canada.

Craig is a results-oriented senior manager with over 10 years experience as an executive in the transportation industry. He attended university and began his career in the US before moving to Canada in 1985. Most recently he was the Vice President, Operations for Canadian Freightways; a large, western Canada based, trucking company.

Craig served for a number of years on the Board of Directors for the British Columbia Trucking Association and was the Chairman of the association's Safety Committee. He was also active on the advisory committee for the Trucking Safety Council of BC, which in conjunction with WorkSafeBC developed and implemented a Certification of Recognition (COR) program for the trucking industry in British Columbia.

With a proven record of operational leadership, strategic development, financial management and regulatory compliance, he brings the experience and expertise needed to guide the association through any program expansion in a cost effective manner.

The Electronics Stewardship Association of British Columbia (ESABC) is a member based, not-for-profit organization established in November 2006 in conjunction with Ministry approval of the ESABC Stewardship Plan for handling End-of-Life Electronics. ESABC is responsible to their membership for implementing and operating an environmentally and socially responsible program for handling electronic waste in accordance with ESABC standards and the requirements of the ESABC Stewardship Plan. The ESABC stewardship program has been operational since August 2007, and is facing a major expansion in 2012 as per the amended BC Recycling Regulation.
