BCSC Panels Issue Reciprocal Orders Against 10 Individuals

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Jan. 24, 2011) - British Columbia Securities Commission panels have reciprocated enforcement orders against one person convicted of fraud in a B.C. court, and nine individuals sanctioned by securities commissions in Alberta and Manitoba.

Using a section of the Securities Act that allows the commission to issue enforcement orders based on criminal convictions, a commission panel issued permanent market bans against Anwar Badshah, who pled guilty to three counts of fraud in a B.C. provincial court.

In November 2007, the BCSC issued a notice of hearing against Badshah alleging fraud and other contraventions of B.C. securities laws. The commission put the hearing on hold until the criminal proceedings concluded.

BCSC panels also reciprocated orders against nine individuals sanctioned by the Alberta and Manitoba Securities Commissions. They are:

Robert Michael Smylski Neil Andrew McDonald
Vernon Arnold Krikke Mark Adrian Jones
Michael Edward Lepitre Leonard Jonathan Zielke
John Jenkins Delroy Atwood
Mario Di Fonzo

For more information on the orders, search for the person's name at www.bcsc.bc.ca. Their names will also appear on a disciplined persons list, and, if they are cease traded, a cease trade order database. Both of these databases are available on the BCSC's website.
