Beaconsfield Now Has a New Automated Call System to Reach Its Population in Case of Emergencies

BEACONSFIELD, QUÉBEC--(Marketwire - March 25, 2013) - The City of Beaconsfield is pleased to announce the implementation of CodeRed, an automated call system which makes us able to reach citizens in case of emergency.

CodeRed is an efficient call system that can reach a large number of people in a very short time. It can be used in a specific area, even on just one street, if, for example, a broken water main were to interrupt the water supply. It is also capable of announcing an environmental accident, a gas leak or other emergency. The message can include information on procedures to be followed.

"This automated call system will be used only in emergencies or when we believe that citizens should be informed of a particular fact," specified Patrice Boileau, Director General of the City. The CodeRed database system contains numbers of landlines in our territory. If your phone number is not in the database, you will not be called. "To keep our database updated and ensure the effectiveness of the system, we strongly advise residents to go to the City's home page beaconsfield.ca and click CodeRed to input their home or cellular numbers directly into the database. Residents will then be notified rapidly in case of an emergency by a call at home, on their cell, or on both phones," said Mr. Boileau.

This project complements other procedures already established in the City's emergency plan to improve efficiency during emergency situations.
