Boldly go where no vacuum has gone before … or at least in a few months! Attention: Assignment Editor, Home/Garden Editor, Lifestyle Editor, News Editor TORONTO, ON --(CCNMatthews - March 22, 2006) - Spring cleaning is a time-honoured tradition that can breathe life into your home but for many, it's a daunting task. The trick, says an expert cleaner, is to not get overwhelmed at the thought of a top-to-bottom cleaning.

"Spring cleaning really isn't as daunting as people think - especially if you have the right tools," says Danielle Colella, owner of Clean Freaks cleaning service and a consultant with Electrolux Home Care Products Canada, makers of Beam Central Vacuum Systems. "You really only need to start with three things to make your home sparkle and shine - a good natural cleaner, micro-fiber cloth and your vacuum."

There are few surfaces on or above the floor that a vacuum can't deal with, explains Colella. Vacuum tools and attachments let you put more power into cleaning to get rid of dust and allergens everywhere - from carpets to ceiling fans, upholstery, and draperies. And while there are many types of vacuums available, Colella is always happy to find out that new clients have a central vacuum system installed.

"Central vacuums provide power, convenience and a wide range of attachments for every situation," says Colella. "Beam Central Vacuum Systems even have attachments for pet-grooming!"

Here are a few tips that can go a long way to take the drudgery out of spring cleaning:

- Open the windows to get rid of stagnant air
- Put on some comfortable clothes and spin some music to put a skip in your step
- Think green - try to use all natural cleaners to limit air pollution in your home
- Use a micro-fiber cloth to polish and buff chrome taps and stainless steal appliances
- Use your vacuum on hard-surfaced floors, not just carpets
- Clean your vents using the hose extension for extra reach
- Use an upholstery brush to make cleaning drapes, blinds and baseboards fast and easy
- Combine the hose extension and crevasse tools to reach those unreachable nooks and crannies
- Eliminate the cobwebs in your high up corners by combining the hose extension and upholstery brush
- Relax...It's March! Set realistic cleaning goals, tackle one room at a time, and take your time
