Beamforming Source Driver From Supertex Incorporates Eight-Bit Pulse Amplitude Modulation

Programmable MD2134 Has Fifteen Independent Output Level Registers

SUNNYVALE, CA--(Marketwire - Sep 15, 2011) - Supertex (NASDAQ: SUPX), a recognized leader in high voltage analog and mixed signal integrated circuits (ICs), today introduced the MD2134, a high speed source driver to be used in a pulsed current waveform generator for medical ultrasound imaging machines. The IC can also be used in non-destructive image evaluation, metal flaw detection, and sonar phase array applications.

MD2134's output stage is designed to be the source driver for a complementary MOSFET array, such as the Supertex DN2625DK6-G. The IC features pulse amplitude modulation with eight-bit resolution and fifteen programmable output level registers. Each level can be programmed to a resolution of +/-127. Its high speed serial-to-parallel interface allows per-scan-line data to be updated quickly for dynamically changing delay times, weighting and waveforms. An apodization digital-to-analog converter smoothes irregularities in the waveforms.
