Beazer to Achieve ENERGY STAR® Rating for Every New Home Built

Goes Above and Beyond Strict Government Guidelines for More Energy Savings and Eco-Friendly Living

ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwire - February 14, 2011) - Beazer Homes USA, Inc. (NYSE: BZH), one of the country's top 10 homebuilders, again raised the bar on lowering consumer utility bills in announcing that 100 percent of the homes they start after February 14, 2011, will have earned the ENERGY STAR seal of approval, meeting strict government standards for energy efficiency and comfort.

But Beazer goes even further to exceed ENERGY STAR qualifications. By adding more energy efficiency, more water conservation and more ways to improve indoor air quality, eSMART homes by Beazer® save you more than just energy that translates to a lower ongoing cost of home ownership.

There will be no additional cost to homebuyers for the ENERGY STAR classification. Backed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, it is a natural evolution for Beazer, the first national homebuilder to launch a comprehensive energy-saving program when it introduced eSMART by Beazer Homes nearly three years ago.

"Energy savings and healthy living are a hallmark of our eSMART program," said Ian McCarthy, president and CEO of Beazer Homes. "Adding ENERGY STAR is a significant achievement and one that should resonate well with buyers who want extra peace of mind knowing that our promise for energy savings and comfort has the backing of a highly accepted government program," said Ian McCarthy.

Beazer employs a whole-house system approach to achieve energy savings, with many features already included in the ENERGY STAR checklist, like sealing and insulating the envelope of the home to minimize leakage and achieve optimal performance.

"eSMART and ENERGY STAR together are a great example of how less is actually more," said McCarthy. "Homeowners will see less in the form of lower utility bills, but at the same time get more energy and water savings, and more comfort with cleaner indoor air."

For those homebuyers who want to accelerate their home's performance level even higher, Beazer offers eSMART Green. These homes offer even more energy-saving features, including increased attic and wall insulation, mastic sealed ductwork and a high-efficiency heating and cooling system. Available in some markets, spray foam insulation in the attic and walls offers optimal energy savings by creating a highly efficient home envelope that allows for minimal air leakage.

Beazer is inviting prospective buyers who want to get more in a home and spend less to maintain it to come out Feb 14 - 27 and see first-hand all the ways that eco-friendly living can save money. During the "Get More for Less" sales event, Beazer will introduce the new "ENERGY STAR and More" homes and offer qualified buyers tremendous value in all new home communities across the country.
