Becker & Poliakoff Hires New Information Technology and Human Resources Department Heads


FT. LAUDERDALE, FL--(Marketwired - May 23, 2013) - Becker & Poliakoff today announced that it has hired new heads in its Information Technology and Human Resources departments. The appointments of Kenneth M. Schultz, Chief Information Officer/Chief Technology Officer, and Marilyn Fong, Director of Human Resources, became effective this month with both new executives reporting to Gary Rosen, managing shareholder.

Mr. Schultz and Ms. Fong collectively have more than 30 years experience in strategic business operations for law firms and will play major roles in positioning Becker & Poliakoff for continued diversification and growth in its 18 domestic and international offices. They will also be instrumental in developing and implementing plans for the recently announced relocation of the firm's headquarters to downtown Ft. Lauderdale.

Mr. Schultz joins Becker & Poliakoff from Greenberg Traurig where he spent 18 years leading the firm's technology initiatives. Ms. Fong has more than 16 years experience in the legal human resources field, serving as Director of Human Resources for Gunster since 2000.

Mr. Schultz has global experience in building and leading technology organizations for law firms. Widely recognized as a technology leader and innovator, he was a member of the selective Microsoft Legal Advisory Council, and has made major contributions nationally with his work with Microsoft products, particularly Microsoft Word. 

Ms. Fong joined Gunster in 1997 as a Human Resources Administrator and was promoted to Human Resources Director in 2000. Her responsibilities, among others, included development of policies/procedures that ensure regulatory compliance, implementing staff performance review and compensation processes and overseeing all recruitment activities and training and development of all staff

Currently headquartered in Hollywood, Becker & Poliakoff will move to a 46,000-square-foot office in a newly refurbished building in downtown Fort Lauderdale in January 2014. The high-rise, known as the 1 East Broward building, is located at the northeast corner of Broward Boulevard and Andrews Avenue which is right across the street from Ft. Lauderdale City Hall and near the Broward County Governmental Center.
