Bell Sensplex and KMHA welcome Hyundai Hockey Nation this weekend

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Jan. 6, 2011) - The Bell Sensplex, in conjunction with the Kanata Minor Hockey Association (KMHA), announced today that CBC's Hyundai Hockey Nation event will take place on Saturday, Jan. 8, and Sunday, Jan. 9 at the Bell Sensplex.

CBC and Hyundai have teamed up to travel to communities across Canada, where they present unique hockey experiences. Coaches, parents and kids alike receive an opportunity to take part in a series of free smart hockey clinics.

"We are proud to have been selected as the Ottawa-area facility for this seven-city event," said Bell Sensplex general manager Brad Kinnaird. "We look forward to the hockey festival atmosphere that Hyundai Hockey Nation brings to the community and the opportunity to highlight the Bell Sensplex on Hockey Night in Canada."

Additionally, Hyundai Hockey Nation will provide the KMHA with fundraising opportunities. "Not only will we have a Hyundai vehicle to raffle off," said KMHA president Kelli Burke, "but every test drive conducted at the Bell Sensplex throughout the weekend will result in a $10 donation to our association."

Throughout the weekend in the Bell Sensplex parking lot, hockey fans will be able to participate in interactive games and pose for a photo with images of Hockey Night in Canada celebrities Don Cherry and Ron MacLean.

The activities on Saturday take place between 7:15 a.m. and 2:15 p.m. at the Bell Sensplex, and Sunday from 10:15 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. Upon the conclusion of Sunday's session, Ken Hitchcock, a former head coach of the Dallas Stars, Philadelphia Flyers and Columbus Blue Jackets, will be joined by Ron Davidson, author of Play Better Hockey and featured hockey instructor on Hockey Night in Canada, and will sign autographs for 30 minutes in the arena atrium.

A coaching symposium is also being presented as part of Hyundai Hockey Nation on Friday at Scotiabank Place.
