Bell Sensplex to host sixth annual Central Canada Hockey League Holiday Showcase from Dec. 16 to 18

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Dec. 14, 2011) - In partnership with the Central Canada Hockey League, Senators Sports & Entertainment will host the sixth annual CCHL Holiday Showcase from Dec. 16 to 18 at the Bell Sensplex. The 2011 showcase will mark the second consecutive time the event has been played at the Bell Sensplex and sees each CCHL team play two games at the venue over the course of the weekend. Each game result counts towards the league standings.

The CCHL Holiday Showcase will run alongside the eighth annual Ottawa Senators Novice Holiday Classic, which takes place at the Bell Sensplex beginning on Friday, Dec. 16. Presented by the Kanata and West Carleton minor hockey associations, the region's largest novice tournament will welcome 62 teams comprised of seven- and eight-year old players from Ontario and Quebec. In an effort to expose young players to junior hockey, each player will receive a ticket to one of the Holiday Showcase games.

"Following up on what was a tremendous weekend of hockey last year, we are thrilled to again be presenting the CCHL Holiday Showcase at the Bell Sensplex," said Senators president Cyril Leeder. "This event offers the Ottawa area an opportunity to view the game of hockey from its grassroots to one of its highest levels. Over the years, our partnership with the CCHL has been a valuable recruiting tool, as our hockey club has had the opportunity to assess local talent and through this, we have seen several current and former Senators graduate through this fine junior program."

"The Central Canada Hockey League is once again pleased and excited to be partnering with the Senators organization in bringing this event back to the Bell Sensplex," said CCHL commissioner Kevin Abrams. "Last year, the Holiday Showcase proved to be a great addition to what was already a successful weekend of minor hockey and made for a great way to kick off the holiday season in the Ottawa area."

Daily and weekend passes are currently on sale and can be purchased at the Bell Sensplex. Due to limited seating, advance purchase is recommended. The Holiday Showcase begins on Friday with a game at 5 p.m. and will conclude with a 4 p.m. contest on Sunday afternoon. Former Senator and CCHL alumnus Todd White will conduct a ceremonial faceoff prior to the 4 p.m. game between Kanata and Brockville on Saturday. The Holiday Showcase schedule can be found online at
