Bellaire Dentist Offering Groundbreaking Bone Grafting Technique

BELLAIRE, TX--(Marketwired - May 27, 2015) - Richard Waghalter, a leading Bellaire dental implant provider, can now create bone grafts from patients’ own extracted teeth.

This groundbreaking method for placing bone grafts was discovered in Japan and has been available since 2013, but Dr. Waghalter is the first dentist to use this technique successfully.

“Patients are amazed that we can extract a tooth and then place bone grafts using natural material from their body,” Dr. Waghalter said. “The radical procedure is safe on your body and actually increases healing time.”

The body of the tooth has twice as much bone morphogenetic protein -- which stimulates bone growth -- than the actual jawbone. When the tooth is extracted, it is ground to a small particle size, cleaned of proteinaceous material and placed into the bony defect of the jawbone. This process leads to faster healing of bone augmentation for periodontal bone loss and develops bone regeneration around dental implants in two months instead of six to eight months.

“The biggest advantage to the patient is that they don’t have to have foreign bone grafting material in their body. This treatment also is much less expensive than traditional bone grafting,” Dr. Waghalter said.
