Belleville Dental Office Receives CPR, AED Training

BELLEVILLE, IL--(Marketwired - March 30, 2015) - Dr. Thomas Feder, a talented Belleville family dentist, and his staff recently completed a CPR course conducted by the American Red Cross.

Dr. Feder and much of his staff were already certified in the resuscitation techniques CPR and AED (Automated External Defibrillator) and used the training as a continuing education opportunity. During the March training, Dr. Feder brought in an instructor with the American Red Cross to train 15 staff members in CPR.

Dr. Feder seeks out the course every two years to keep himself and his staff up-to-date on the latest CPR and AED training. The American Red Cross is accredited to provide training, continuing education and certificates in life-saving courses on CPR and AED.

"For this certification, we give up an afternoon of patient care to make sure we can respond in the event of an emergency, both inside the office or outside the office," Dr. Feder said. "While we don't anticipate having to use this training in the office, we need to be prepared and assure our patients that we can provide them emergency care." Dr. Feder's Belleville dental practice, at 16 N. Jackson St., has seven dental chairs, digital X-rays and TVs in each room for patient comfort.

Dr. Feder has been in practice for more than 40 years, providing general dentistry, cosmetic dentistry and restorative dentistry. He was inspired to become a dentist by his father and great-uncle, both of whom were Illinois dentists.

Dr. Feder's office offers cleanings, exams, fillings, teeth whitening, crowns, bridges, root canals, extractions, dentures and dental implants. He uses a revolutionary tool called the Vibraject to give pain-free injections to patients. The Vibraject sends out vibrations to distract the brain from feel pain in the area of the injection.

Dr. Feder graduated from the St. Louis University School of Dentistry in 1970. He served three years with the U.S. Public Health Service, two of which he was assigned to the U.S. Coast Guard. He has been in private practice since 1973. Dr. Feder earned his Fellowship recognition from the Academy of General Dentistry in 1982 and was voted One of America's Best Dentists in 2013 by the National Consumer Advisory Board.

Dr. Feder is committed to public service and spent 12 years on the Belle Valley School Board.

Dr. Feder works with one associate, Dr. Michael Smith, a Missouri native. Dr. Smith joined the Illinois Army National Guard in 2009 and now serves as a captain in the Dental Corps. Like Dr. Feder, Dr. Smith also has extensive training in placing dental implants.

Dr. Smith is a 2011 graduate of the Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine. To learn about Dr. Feder's dental services, visit his website at or call (618) 219-1412.
