Belleville Dentist Implements New Dental Technology

BELLEVILLE, IL--(Marketwired - December 18, 2015) - Belleville dental patients can expect to see new equipment being used during their cleanings and dental treatments with Dr. Thomas Feder.

Dr. Feder recently implemented a new chairside suction system to replace an old unit that required much maintenance and oversight. The new unit uses no water and is quiet for patient comfort.

"Every time we update the equipment in our office, we look at how the change will affect the patients, and we're happy to say that this change will improve their experience in the dental chair," Dr. Feder said.

The office's old suction system used a significant amount of water every day but functioned well, Dr. Feder said. He sought a change for efficiency purposes. Dr. Feder closed his offices on Nov. 30 so technicians could install the new unit, which is now available in all operatories.

With the new system in place, Dr. Feder said the office has seen a reduction in overall waste water. He added that he and his associate, Dr. Michael Smith, are pleased with the convenience and design of the new suction system. Patients can expect to use the new unit during every dental visit, whether they are receiving a basic cleaning or even restorative dental treatment.

"Our office strives to always be improving our equipment and keeping up with the changes in the profession," Dr. Feder said. "Dr. Smith and I love the new system because we spend much less time servicing and more time with our patients."

Dr. Feder's Belleville dental practice, at 16 N. Jackson St., has seven dental chairs, digital X-rays and TVs in each room for patient comfort.

Dr. Feder has been in practice for more than 40 years, providing general dentistry, cosmetic dentistry and restorative dentistry. He was inspired to become a dentist by his father and great uncle, both of whom were Illinois dentists.

Dr. Feder's office offers cleanings, exams, fillings, teeth whitening, crowns, bridges, root canals, extractions, dentures and dental implant restorations. He uses a revolutionary tool called the Vibraject to give pain-free injections to patients. The Vibraject sends out vibrations to distract the brain from feeling pain in the area of the injection. The vibration also allows for the anesthesia to take effect quickly.

Dr. Feder graduated from the St. Louis University School of Dentistry in 1970. He served three years with the U.S. Public Health Service, two of which he was assigned to the U.S. Coast Guard. He has been in private practice since 1973. Dr. Feder earned his Fellowship recognition from the Academy of General Dentistry in 1982 and was voted one of America's Best Dentists in 2013 by the National Consumer Advisory Board.

Dr. Feder is committed to public service and spent 12 years on the Belle Valley School Board. To learn about Dr. Feder's Belleville family dentistry, visit his website at or call 618-219-1412.
