Benefit for Childrens Hospital Los Angeles at John Cassese The Dance Doctor Studio

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - April 20, 2009) - In celebration of 25 years in business, John Cassese The Dance Doctor is holding "Dancing for Kids," an event to benefit Childrens Hospital Los Angeles (a 501-c-3 non-profit organization), on Saturday, May 16, from 8 to 11 p.m., at John Cassese The Dance Doctor studio at 1440 4th Street, in Santa Monica, Calif.

Fundraiser attendees will be treated to a lively performance by Cassese and his partner, followed by dance instruction and a dance competition for prizes, such as free dance lessons. There will also be silent and live auctions of packages valued at up to $5,500 of dance lessons and non-dance items. Hors d'oeuvres, wine and non-alcoholic beverages will be served.

"The gift of giving is the best give anyone can receive. You can never give too much," says Cassese, who donates thousands of dollars in dance lessons and performances to charities each year. Through this entertaining event Cassese and his staff will contribute to the Childrens Hospital Los Angeles' expansion for health care for children.

An accomplished performer, choreographer and dance instructor, Cassese has appeared on many television shows and he has taught many celebrities to dance, including Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Elizabeth Hurley and Ron Howard. He opened John Cassese The Dance Doctor 25 years ago to make dance accessible to everyone.

The studio offers a wide variety of private lessons and group classes, which include salsa, tango, cha cha, merengue, waltz, fox trot, swing, rumba, bolero, jazz, country, hip-hop and more. Due to the great response from attendees, free Sunday afternoon Ballroom and Salsa lessons have been extended through the end of June. For those who would like to supplement their dance lessons or improve their skills, simple instructional performance and wedding DVDs are available at the Dance Doctor's online store.

"Our greatest goal with the 'Dancing for Kids' benefit is to give people a great, fun experience that's not just an ordinary night out and to raise money for a very important cause," says Cassese.

"Dancing for Kids" benefit tickets are $50 and are available at or by calling 310-459-2264. Parking is available at public lots on 4th Street, just north of Broadway and other lots nearby.
