Benefit in Memory of P.O. Richard Going on April 6th at Tavern on the Green

NEW YORK, NY -- (MARKET WIRE) -- March 28, 2006 -- A committee consisting of Police Officers, Family and Friends in conjunction with Tavern on the Green will host a Benefit in Memory of Police Officer Richard Going, to be held on April 6th, 7 p.m. at Tavern on the Green. This event will feature an evening of dinner and dancing, wonderful gifts to be raffled and much more.

Police Officer Richard Going died tragically on December 16, 2005 while working a second job as a roofer to earn extra money for his family, when he slipped and fell. Rich left behind a wife and two young children. As a result of his passing while off duty, his family was left with no medical coverage and a minimal pension. The irony about this is Rich died trying to go that extra mile for his family.

Rich, a police officer for 13 years and played on the PBA football team for 11 of those years. Rich along with his brother and sister grew up on Long Island. Rich's parents died very young in his life. His father, the grounds keeper for the New York Mets, passed away at Shea Stadium due to a heart attack, the year that baseball went on strike. Rich's mother who threw the first ball out when baseball resumed, died later when he was 15 at which time he lived with his brother.

Rich was a hard worker and a person you were proud to call your friend. The word "no" was not in his vocabulary. No matter what was going on in his life, if there was anything you needed, Rich was always there to help and would ask nothing in return. He always made time for his friends, but those closest to Rich know that his family was the one thing that meant the most to him. To describe Rich would be endless. He was a terrific brother, uncle and friend, especially a devoted husband father. His sudden loss at 39 years old has broken the hearts of everyone that ever met him.

We are asking you on behalf of Rich to help us give back to his wife and children in the way he gave to those around him every single day. This Benefit was organized with lots of love, hard work and devotion by police officers and family members who worked endless hours trying to make this a success.

Please join us on April 6th to share in the memory of Police Officer Rich Going and give tribute to someone who was an EXCEPTIONAL human being.
