Bentley's Dr. Robert Aish Named Top Ten Innovator by U.K.'s Building Design Newspaper; Best Known for Work on GenerativeComponents

EXTON, Pa.--(CCNMatthews - Jul 18, 2005) -

Bentley Systems, Incorporated today announced that Bentley Building's director of research, Robert Aish, Ph.D., has been named one of the top ten innovators by Building Design (BD), the United Kingdom's best-read architectural weekly newspaper. According to BD, "As both a designer and IT wiz, Dr. Aish is perfectly placed to push the boundaries of computer modeling."

Dr. Aish is best known for his work on GenerativeComponents. This design system gives designers and engineers new ways to efficiently and quickly explore alternative building forms without recreating the design model for each scenario.

Commenting on Dr. Aish's recent distinction, Brad Workman, vice president of Bentley Building, said, "We are very proud of Robert and his leadership in the development of GenerativeComponents, and are pleased he is receiving the recognition he so richly deserves. What we are most excited about, though, are the endless possibilities that open up through the use of this remarkable technology. Unfettered by the arbitrary constraints of inflexible modeling technologies, designers are free to express their inspirations."

In the BD article announcing his recognition as one of the top ten innovators, Dr. Aish explained that his aim with GenerativeComponents is to give conceptual control back to the designer, but with enhanced possibilities. "The program," said Dr. Aish, "puts an expressive tool in the hands of creative people."
