Berkeley Electronic Press Names Vice President of Engineering

BERKELEY, CA--(Marketwire - June 10, 2008) - Publisher and communications services company, The Berkeley Electronic Press (bepress), announced the appointment of John Armstrong to Vice President of Engineering. John will report to bepress President Jean-Gabriel Bankier and will be responsible for technology strategy and development. This appointment reflects the rapid growth of bepress's innovative solutions for the scholarly communication and research markets.

John has spent over a decade developing e-solutions for the print and publishing markets. Jean-Gabriel Bankier remarked, "John's experience complements the innovation and expertise that distinguish bepress as a leading provider of hosted institutional repositories and publishing services."

John brings to bepress more than 13 years of technology management, engineering and award-winning development experience. John is a co-founder of Interwave Travel Concepts, a boutique web-developer providing content and client management tools for travel agencies, magazines and tour operators. He has also served as Director of Engineering for, where he managed all technology operations. John comes to bepress from EFI, a global leader in print technology. As Director of Engineering at EFI, John headed an international team responsible for office strategy and technology development, and led the development of key partnerships around core technologies.
