BERNINA Will Also Sponsor the STARS Event on September 10

AURORA, IL--(Marketwired - Sep 10, 2015) - BERNINA of America, the premier manufacturer of sewing, embroidery and quilting machines, is pleased to announce that it will present a BERNINA 560 (B 560) sewing machine valued at $3,399, to one emerging Dallas designer at Fashion X Dallas, which takes place September 10 - 12. The prize will be awarded during the FINALE event on Saturday, September 12. In addition, BERNINA will sponsor the STARS event at Fashion X Dallas on Thursday, September 10 in which attendees will have a chance to meet eight designers from around the country and view their latest collections.

"BERNINA is excited to support Fashion X Dallas and the STARS event," said Amy Gutierrez, Director of Marketing for BERNINA of America. "The BERNINA 560, with its precise sewing capabilities and innovative technological features, is ideally suited to meet the needs of both emerging and established fashion designers."

Four emerging designers are in competition for the Dallas Fashion Fund, a partnership that supports local emerging designers. BERNINA will contribute a B 560 to one budding fashion designer: Smith II by Charles Smith II, Batch No. 8 by Sarah Speck, Megan Surber by Megan Surber, or De' by De'Vaun Robinson. They will showcase their collections during the FINALE event, which takes place at the Fashion Industry Gallery, located at 1807 Ross Ave. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. and the runway show will start at 8:00 p.m.

Additionally, BERNINA is providing three BERNINA 330 sewing machines and one BERNINA 1150 MDA serger at the BERNINA Designer's Hub, located backstage where designers can find last-minute sewing assistance. The BERNINA Designer's Hub will be available to all designers the entire length of Fashion X Dallas from September 10 - 12.

The B 560 features a five-inch high-resolution color touch screen to navigate its wide range of features and functions. It features a simple yet classic design that sewists will appreciate, along with 476 total stitch patterns, an automatic thread cutter and a stitch width up to 9 mm. Additionally, the B 560 offers an optional embroidery module and is compatible with BERNINA's cutting edge embroidery software, DesignWorks. DesignWorks features the CutWork, PaintWork and CrystalWork components that can transform the B 560 from an embroidery machine into a mixed media tool. With CutWork, shapes, patterns and designs can be cut from multiple layers of fabric. PaintWork allows the application of pen drawings to fabric and textiles. CrystalWork gives the ability to create crystal appliqué patterns for textiles and garments.
