Best Buy Canada Announces New Policy on Plastic Bag Fee in Toronto

Proceeds to benefit Toronto youth through Best Buy for Kids program

BURNABY, BRITISH COLUMBIA and TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - May 26, 2009) - Best Buy, Canada's fastest growing specialty retailer and e-tailer of consumer electronics, today announced that on June 1, 2009 in compliance with a City of Toronto bylaw it will start charging customers five cents for shopping bags at its locations within the GTA. The entire proceeds raised from the collection of this fee will be donated from the Best Buy for Kids giving program to youth programs in Toronto.

Each year Best Buy Canada allocates a percentage of its total profits to the Best Buy for Kids program. Through its charitable donations this year, the program will support:

- Best Buy Canada "Best in Class Fund" - the company's signature giving program

- Tech it Away - the company's student-led electronics recycling program

- Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada

- Tel-jeunes Quebec

- Little Geeks

- Store Donation Program - local market donations from the company's 58 Best Buy stores that support local charities in those communities
