Best Selling Mild Cigars: The 12 at the Top

EASTON, PA --(Marketwired - March 08, 2016) - Cigar Advisor, the nation's premiere online cigar magazine, proudly serves cigar enthusiasts with a uniquely down-to-earth perspective on the enjoyment of premium cigars. Newly released is their first 2016 CA Report of March, a brief of the top 12 "Best Selling Mild Cigars." The Report is authored by Managing Editor John Pullo, and discusses the commonalities among these mild cigars and their flavor profiles, as well as how -- advertising aside -- a cigar can become a best-seller.

"If you look at the fact that there's very little advertising of these brands, it would seem that these cigars have built a pretty strong resume on reputation alone," says Cigar Advisor Managing Editor John Pullo. He's compiled a new Cigar Advisor Report detailing the Best Selling Mild Cigars in America, based on US sales data of mild cigars. He continues, "Coupled with word of mouth, enthusiasts' and tobacconists' recommendations have overwhelmingly contributed to their popularity." John draws a comparison to books that are listed on the New York Times Best Seller List: "You have to believe there's a reason that they're on the list... whether it's because they're excellent, or it's because they're from trusted names who have been around for a long time." He points to the popularity of cigars like Acid Kuba Kuba, Baccarat, Ashton Classic and Macanudo specifically, remarking that, "In the case of the last two or three in that group, they're heritage brands; they've been around for a while. Those are often recommended by veteran cigar smokers to up-and-coming enthusiasts for their consistent profile -- smooth, mellow, creamy... almost buttery. As for Kuba Kuba, and to some extent the My Father Connecticut and the Rocky Patel, enough folks have 'discovered' them by now with a tobacconist's guidance; and because they're satisfying in a different sort of way, the resulting brand advocacy among consumers is very strong in spite of their relatively shorter time on shelves. But all of them share one key trait: they're good."

John also gives "four bonus selections," cigars he calls an "opportunity to expand your world of mild smokes." The four brands discussed, Montecristo, CAO Gold, Nat Sherman Host and Plasencia Reserva Organica, are -- according to Pullo -- top sellers in their own right; but often get overlooked when a person is searching for a beginner cigar. "As cigar smokers' palates have expanded, they tend to think more of the most recent cigars they've had as the best cigar to recommend. But I'll bet that at least half of these premiums were one of the first they ever smoked, and taught them the enjoyment a good cigar can bring."
