Mayor Fontana was joined by a number of members of the building and construction sector today to launch The Better Bin Company. The London based company officially unveiled its product and local service as well as its plans for a national rollout. Principal owners Jim and Bill Graham outlined the process from original concept and design of the "Better Bin". The two had recognized the potential and opportunity of the product and so decided to invest in additional design and engineering.

Mayor Fontana said he was excited and encouraged by the creativity of the company founders and their desire to move manufacturing of the product components to London. He said "The Better Bin Company had a great idea - invested time and money and the result is a new way of collecting and moving waste materials - a better way for our environment. Now they're looking for London based manufacturers to come on board. This is a company that's heading toward the national marketplace with a Made in London tag. It's just what our city needs."

Jim Graham described how The Better Bin is the next generation in waste removal for homeowners, homebuilders, roofers, contractors, restoration companies and anyone who needs to clean up with ease and an eye to environmental responsibility. The Better Bin itself is constructed of a tough, durable and reusable polypropylene. It is light weight (approx. 20 lbs) for easy set up and handling by the user - extremely strong (holds 10,000 lbs) - and reusable (up to 10 times). The Better Bin can be set up in a matter of minutes (less than five) and is held upright by eight polycarbonate poles (the same material as the gates used in Olympic downhill ski racing) and function extremely well in cold weather. The pick-up system uses a specially designed arm to reach out and pick up the bin, dump it in a stationary container on the back of the truck. The Better Bin is ready to be filled again. Bins can be placed closer to work areas and there's no worry about damage to driveway or lawn surfaces.

Several large local home builders including Sifton and Rembrandt Homes have already begun using the Better Bin as part of their responsible environmental waste disposal programs. More information about the Better Bin Company and online booking can be found at www.thebetterbincompany.com.
