Big Brothers Big Sisters to Ring The NASDAQ Stock Market Closing Bell

-- (MARKET WIRE) -- August 17, 2005 --

What:

Rob Kelly, member of the Board of Trustees, will preside over the closing bell. Big Brothers Big Sisters of NYC is the founder of the nation's mentoring movement and just celebrated its centennial anniversary. Their vision is successful mentoring relationships for all disadvantaged children in New York City who want them, contributing to better schools, brighter futures, and stronger communities. With the help of thousands of caring adult volunteers and its own team of dedicated social workers, Big Brothers Big Sisters of NYC helps children reach their potential through professionally supported, one-to-one relationships.

The organization will hold its first annual Legg Mason Big Brothers Big Sisters of NYC Race for the Kids on September 17, 2005 at Riverside Park. The race will feature a 5K run/walk and a fun 2K walk, followed by an old fashioned picnic with entertainment and games for the entire family. Over 2,500 New Yorkers are expected to participate. The event will raise money to help more New York City boys and girls in need. Corporations and individuals are invited to participate. For more information: www.raceforthekids.org
