Big Names Released for YYC SportsCon; Relief Also Offered for Flood Victims

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - July 7, 2013) - Canada's first ever sports convention, the YYC SportsCon, is just around the corner, but the organizers were hit hard by the flooding in the city a few weeks ago. Due to the impact felt in late June, Fantasy Sports World Services, the organization that is running the convention, is doing its part to help out those in the city.

Buy your tickets between now and Monday, July 15th and 50% from each ticket sold will be donated to the Canadian Red Cross to help Southern Alberta with their flood relief efforts. To purchase the tickets, you can go to yycsportscon-floodhelp.eventbrite.com. Tickets vary in price, depending on if you want to attend as a VIP or not.

The show will be the first of its kind in Canada, with the focus solely on team sports, individual sports, fitness and health. More athletes have been announced in the last few weeks, including former Major League Baseball player, David Justice, who was a prominent character in last year's motion picture "Moneyball", starring Brad Pitt. Another big name that will be attending the convention is NFL legend Barry Sanders, who is considered one of the greatest running backs in football history.

Calgary's own, Bret "The Hitman" Hart, has also just recently been confirmed for the show. He will be one of many current and former athletes that will be at the event, signing autographs and doing photo ops with attendees.

In addition to the athlete/celebrity component, a sports expo/tradeshow will also be taking place, with vendors/exhibitors from all aspects of the industry present. There will also be speaking sessions with media personalities and athletes. All of these are a part of the admission ticket. These are very reasonably priced for a first-time event, ranging in price from $20 to $30 for a full three-day pass. The convention will run from August 16th to August 18th at Stampede Park.

Exhibitor opportunities are also still available for any vendors that would like to be a part of the show, with booth spaces very reasonably priced (for example, a 10 x 10 booth is only $350, including tax). The deadline has been extended to Tuesday, July 16th for those interested.
