Big News Brewing at La Voie Maltee! Government of Canada Supports Growth of Saguenay Microbrewery

SAGUENAY, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - July 16, 2015) - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)

The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, today announced that La Voie Maltée has been granted financial assistance for the acquisition of brewing equipment and the start-up of an industrial brewery in Saguenay.

This support was awarded in the form of an $875,000 repayable financial contribution through CED's Quebec Economic Development Program.

Quick facts

• La Voie Maltée group operates three microbreweries: two in Saguenay's Jonquière and Chicoutimi boroughs and the third in the City of Québec.
• The group has been registering strong growth. From 2010 to 2012, it also won four World Beer Awards, which has further bolstered its reputation.
• The funding allowed the company to acquire brewing equipment in order to launch an industrial brewery and to introduce two new product formats: the can and the draft keg.
• This will enable La Voie Maltée to more easily expand distribution across Quebec, initially, then to launch its products on external markets.
