Big Switch Networks Named to JMP Securities "Fast 50" List of Hottest Privately Held Networking and Security Companies

Inaugural List Recognizes Vendors Who Are Disrupting the Technology Titans That Dominate the Traditional Landscape

SANTA CLARA, CA--(Marketwired - Apr 2, 2015) - Big Switch Networks, the leader in bringing hyperscale networking to data centers worldwide, announced that it has been named to JMP Securities inaugural Fast 50 list. The Fast 50 recognizes the overall achievements of privately held networking and security companies that are disrupting the technology titans that are currently dominating the traditional landscape. The list, which was compiled by the Internet Security and Communications Infrastructure group at JMP Securities, included 50 of security and networking's most innovative and promising vendors.

"We are honored to be included in JMP Securities' inaugural list. This recognition further validates that our approach to open networking and modern SDN is making a significant and meaningful impact to the networking industry," said Douglas Murray, CEO of Big Switch Networks. "I am proud of the entire Big Switch team as we continue to execute on our vision, expand geographically, and accelerate our growth. We have established Big Switch as a key player in this strategic SDN category and this is only the beginning."

Big Switch's inclusion to the first Fast 50 list was for its differentiated solutions that curb both networking OpEx and CapEx, specifically by reducing hardware costs by making white box and branded bare-metal switches a viable alternative to incumbent vendors via mature SDN software to simplify network management and increase network agility. Big Switch's software offers a new architecture that dramatically simplifies the deployment and management of data center networks.

JMP Securities believes that the companies it has recognized each play a key role in contributing to the most disruptive transformation in networking in more than a decade. There's a tremendous opportunity now for emerging vendors to usurp the control that hardware-dependent incumbents wield over their existing customers with proprietary software that works to entrench them in the customer's environment and generate maximum sales.

Earlier this year, Big Switch was recognized as one of CRN's Top 20 Virtualization Vendors for 2015. Last year, Big Switch was recognized by numerous organizations, which included: Lead 411s Hottest of Silicon Valley 2014, AlwaysOn 2014 Global 250, and CRN's Top Disruptors.
